This photo taken in 1991 at the Clubhouse Lounge in Sarasota, FL (now renamed the 'Rusty Hook' Bar) The legendary guitarist Dan Toler, from the Allman Bros. Band was also part of the band that night and shared some intense jams with Derek. I remember coming away from that performance blown away by not just the fact that a twelve year old Derek Trucks had such impeccable slide technique, but that almost more importantly he possessed a seasoned players' command of phrasing, tone and dynamics. Truly a remarkable performance.
