Spinner.com has the world premiere of the video for Herbie Hancock's "Space Captain," featuring Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi...
"Hancock said that it was a treat to get to play with Trucks – this was the first time they'd worked together. "Just a very open musician, very talented, big ears and a...great human being," he enthused about the young guitarist.
And the video, shot during the recording session at the Trucks/Tedeschi studio at their Florida homestead, couldn't be simpler. Just a group of people showing us how to fly. Soar along with them -- watch the video premiere of 'Space Captain' below."

Today, our friends at Relix posted a pair of tracks from The Derek Trucks Band's new live album, Roadsongs - to listen to the full album versions of "I'll Find My Way" and "Get What You Deserve," head over to Relix.com now. Here's what Derek Trucks had to say about these two tracks:
“When we played Chicago, the tour was just getting started, and the new songs from Already Free, like “Get What You Deserve,” were still fresh. That tune is really fun to play when the groove is locking and I remember it feeling great that night. “I’ll Find My Way” is a tune we’ve played for years, and Mike always sings the hell out of it. We reintroduced it into the set in 2009 and it started to take on a new life, especially with the addition of the horns.”
Roadsongs is currently available for pre-order - the live double album will be available in stores everywhere beginning June 22.

Due to a previous commitment for drummer JJ Johnson, upcoming concerts for the Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Band will feature a slightly different lineup than the first batch of shows. From 5/30 at Santa Cruz Blues Festival to 6/5 at Mountain Jam, the Band will be joined on drums by a familiar face, Derek's younger brother Duane Trucks, who comes to the group by way of Col. Bruce Hampton & The Quark Alliance. Duane Trucks previously manned the drum kit for Derek & Susan in the Soul Stew Revival group.
Then, from the 7/2 show at Cape Cod Melody Tent through 7/13 at Artpark in Upstate NY, New Orleans' own Doug Belote (Jerry Douglas Band, Jack Pearson Band, Jon Cleary) will hold down the drumkit until JJ Johnson returns at Ottawa Bluesfest on 7/15.

Over two April nights in Chicago, The Derek Trucks Band took the stage at Park West to perform in front of raucous sold-out crowds. Fans were eager to hear the new material off the band’s just-released Already Free, and the band was happy to be on the road once again, doing what they love and playing music for the mind, body and spirit.
These two shows quickly became legendary amongst fans and the band, alike. Now, with the release of the live double CD Roadsongs, the legend can only grow.
Roadsongs is a document of a band at its collective musical peak. Mixing fresh material from Already Free, such as a rollicking run through “Get What You Deserve,” a soul-drenched version of “I Know,” and a powerful take on Bob Dylan’s “Down In The Flood,” with classic dTb originals like “I’ll Find My Way,” Roadsongs captures dTb as they reached new heights on-stage. An awe-inspiring 14-minute workout on John Coltrane’s “Afro Blue,” and the first officially-released version of dTb live staple “Get Out My Life Woman” (with a Jimi Hendrix “Who Knows” interlude in the middle) elevate Roadsongs into the stratosphere.
