Peter Gammons On Virgil & Derek Trucks
03.01.10
This week on MLB.com, sportswriter and Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee Peter Gammons penned a great article about Virgil Trucks, the legendary Detroit Tigers pitcher from the 1950s, and his great-nephew Derek. It's a must-read for any baseball fan and any Derek fan, as Gammons is truly one of the best writers - sports or otherwise - in the business today.

Rings so true...
What a fascinating story - woven together by a master. Such a pleasure to meet and hear from Virgil Trucks!
And anyone who has been around Derek knows the sincerity and modesty portrayed in this heart-warming family sketch is genuine.
Gammons at his Best
He loves the history of baseball and the people who play. Great story! He was able to include so much about Derek and Susan and the Trucks family. Making baseball stories into family stories is a good thing!
