The Derek Trucks Band - Roadsongs

Recently, we asked fans to submit their ideas for the name of The Derek Trucks Band’s upcoming live album. You delivered, with hundreds of suggestions, and now we’re thrilled to announce that a fan’s submission has been chosen as the title of dTb’s new live album!

Before we get to the big reveal… We want to thank BlueGuy84 for his winning submission. In a strange cosmic coincidence, DerekTrucks.com user BlueGuy84 came up with the same name that dTb bassist Todd Smallie did for the album title, on the same week no less. Clearly it was meant to be. Unfortunately we’ve been unable to get in touch with this user to let him know that his suggestion has been chosen. However, credit is due to both BlueGuy84 and Todd Smallie for coming up with the title.

So with a tip of the cap to these two men, get ready for The Derek Trucks Band – Roadsongs.

Roadsongs is a live double album, compiled from two spectacular dTb shows in April at Chicago’s Park West. On both nights, the band was joined by a stellar horn section – Paul Garrett (Trumpet), Mace Hibbard (Saxophone), and Kevin Hyde (Trombone) – you’ll hear them loud and clear on Roadsongs. You’ll also hear some classic dTb arrangements on an official live release for the first time, including a scorching take on Allen Toussaint’s “Get Out My Life Woman,” and an awe-inspiring, 14-minute run through “Afro Blue,” a song popularized by John Coltrane.

We’ll have much more information on Roadsongs in the coming weeks, including the full track listing, album artwork and release date. Stay tuned to DerekTrucks.com for all the latest, and thanks to all the fans for helping Roadsongs become a reality!

I can vouch for this album being good. My wife and I were at both of the Chicago shows that this album is coming from and they were nothing but awesome. Derek really lit up the guitar. It was a nice addition with the horns as well. The song selection was filled with new and old stuff too!

Are Derrick and Susan performing at Crossroads 2010 tis year ?? I was planning on making a trip to catch the show, but....w.out Derrick & Susan ??? Man, his continous presence on stage was what made the show !!!

The recent DT sighting on Jimmy Fallon show w/ Greg and all them Allman Brothers was quite a treat .... the after - tune "Black Hearted Woman" was also absolutely kicking .... With Oteil Burbridge on Bass and the stellar rhythm section ... this is like some kinda "
re-birth... the mix was likely the best i have heard on TV in like FOREVER .... Cudoz to Derek and his musical taste and reverance blending-into all his musical endeavors .... makes ya wanna drop everthang and head-off to NewYork ............... Fantazmic !!

Just can't wait to enjoy it! I hope it's available soon.

Looking forward to it!
