'Already Free' Wins GRAMMY!
01.31.10
Congratulations to The Derek Trucks Band, who just moments ago were awarded their first GRAMMY! Already Free took home the GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Blues Album against some special competition, including Susan Tedeschi, whose wonderful album Back To The River was also nominated in the same category.
Yonrico Scott accepted the award on behalf of the band. We'll have more GRAMMY coverage for you, including Yonrico's journal of his time in LA, coming soon, but until then, congrats and thank you to you all for supporting dTb!

My best album for 2009
Congratulations Derek & Band!
A well deserved award for you guys. I saw you for the first time live in Nuernberg, Germany last year in July and bought the album right there. When I played it in the car after the concert on the way home, I already considered it my best album for 2009, and it remained my best for the rest of 2009. Well see here this is a sort of confirmation.
Hope to see you all again soon when you come back to (southern) Germany!!
Jos

Virgil Oliver Trucks aka Firetrucks
Derek if you read this post I work for the Detroit Fire Dept and was recently walking thru Cobo Arena and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame. I just happened to look up and saw a plaque honoring Virgil Trucks who played for the Tigers in the 1950's. I was wondering if he was related to you. I remember you referencing a relative who played baseball in some interview. What also caught my attention was his nickname of Firetrucks. We might make him our honorary celebrity for the firehouse. See ya in March!!! We will be making our annual trek to Manhattan. Also please come back to Detroit sometime soon. Greg R.
Thanks for the great music and sharing your Grammy with fans!

Congratulations on the Grammy
Derek and the Band-- Congrats on the Grammy!!! Well deserved and maybe the first of many. Although most of your ardent followers have known for a few years how incredible this band is. The fact that Susan and Derek Trucks Band were both nominees shows the immense talent of both bands. Congrats to Susan and her band as well. Look forward to seeing Derek and Susan at Mountain Jam later this year. Great show at the Egg in Albany, my fourth year in a row to listen to the sweet sounds of the DTB in one of the best places to see and hear them. Good luck in the future--LOVE your music--keep it coming--Andy W.
