The 59 flame top Les Paul that Derek was seen using last Fall was formally owned by Simon Kirkpatrick who sold it to its current owner, vintage guitar collector Ronnie Proler of Texas, who loaned it out to Derek and the ABB for use. The '59 Les Paul with the uncovered double white PAF pickups that Derek used during the first week of the Beacon run is named "Spot" and is also owned by Ronnie, and loaned out to Derek... a picture is linked below:
It is a REALLY GREAT faded 1959 sunburst Les Paul that he purchased I believe from a vintage collector earlier this year. From discussions on the Les Paul Forum, and close up pics of DT playing it and Bobby T holding it backstage, it has a very fine pinstriped top...I've seen him play it both with the ABB in Raleigh (Hi Holt), and in Roanoke, and he had it out for the Friday show last Thanksgiving in Charlotte...well worn with tons of mojo...the last goldtops were shipped in very early 1958 I do believe...here ya go..hope this works
