GAAF and Scrap

GAAF and Scrap

well, we made the journey to Richmond and back to hear Gregg and Friends last night at The National. Scrap with Dave Yoke opened and were really great! I love the authenticity of their music...almost pre-blues and Mike is just off the hook as a vocalist. Gregg looked and sounded much better than I have heard him in YEARS! He's just wrapped up recording a new CD with T-Bone Burnett to be released later this year. They played a couple of new tunes that sounded good but were not quite in the groove , yet. From what I've read the touring band was not on the new recording...but Dr. John WAS...it will be interesting to see who else was playing on those sessions, as imho, T-Bone really does a great job in bringing out the essence of an artist. Gregg's band is so silly stupid great it's ridiculous...I could listen to just Jerry Jemmott on bass for two hours Smiling Scott Sharrod was very good on guitar..BUT the only two other times that I have heard GAAF, Robben Ford and Jack Pearson were the guitarists, and those are HUGE shoes to fill...Peace, BB
