Derek's Fender Vibro-Champ amp question
Hi folks,
Does anyone know about this amp - (approx. vintage), is it original or a re-issue?
(i mean specifically the one used in Charlotte '08)
I have a good photo of it, but do not know how to post it.
Thanks !!

Both Black Face Super Reverbs Have WEBER DT-10's in them now....as far as i can tell the Weber speaker is a direct model of the Pyle MH-1020.

I spoke with Derek in May and at that time he was playing through two supers, one with pyle drivers the other with webers.
I read somewhere that DT was now using tone tubby hemp cone speakers in his BFSR?? can anyone here confirm or deny this rumor

Sorry, I think you're right...there are too many knobs to be a VC. Is it a Princeton Reverb? There's quite a few controls, there. I didn't really hear any verb, though.

I think its a silverface princeton in that WGN video.
So this is how it ends
Not with a bang but with a whimper.
What speaker and tubes? FWIW, DT is using a VC in the MLB.com pics and on WGN.
I love VC's!!!

Thanks Bro,
for the info on the Vibro Champs and the Magnatone.
Peace, keep up the good work, man!!
The Vibro Champ's.... Thats Right, we have two! and we have used them both and blown them both up.... and one of them is always getting fixed but thats cause we turn them all the way up, It sounds better!!! The are from '65 and '66 and they are both in pretty immaculate shape.
Derek rarely uses The Vibrato but, the vibrato side of the Super Reverb always sounds better so im glad its a "vibro" Champ.
The "wooden toaster amp" you speak of is a MAGNATONE circa '61 or '62 its called a troubador model. it's 7 watts and runs on Metal Tubes.

thank you Marc, for your reply.
do you happen to know what the "other low-watt, wood paneling on front, looks like luggage or a wooden toaster" amp is? I have seen it strapped down right next to the Vibro-Champ (on the flight-case base).
Peace.
hey bro,
that may be partially true - about his Super Reverb (not the amp I was originally asking about) ... but I'm pretty sure that the speakers he uses, while his taste may have "evolved" from Pyle speakers, are now Webers. I have never used them, but they are known to be *very good* quality, and custom*, speakers (not "car speakers").

Also, I don't know for sure on *any* of this info - now that be has probably at least a dozen amps in all, and different setups for dTb and ABB, who knows!! But, for a while at least, it was custom made Webers in his Super Reverb. The model DT-10 comes to mind, but ... from an old, dusty mind
From their website: "Weber Speakers and Products are hand-built one at a time. Please allow at least 10 business days for your order to be built and shipped."

Peace.
This is a quote from Derek concerning his amp: "I have a '63 Super Reverb turned to 7 or 8...My amp has really crappy Pyle Driver car stereo speakers which break up at lower volumes."
well after some research on the Vibro Champ amp, i'm prepared to say that there's no way in hell that DT is using a "reissue". My guess is: original Vibro Champ vintage '66 or very close to that year.
while it did sound great in Charlotte, i can't say that I discerned any particular Vibe or Trem from it; not that it matters - it did the job.
... and i'm shopping for one, hahahaha.
