I first saw The Derek Trucks Band in Iowa. This is a shout out to his Dad, too, if he remembers me showing him my I.D. that I'm a Trucks, too. Thank you for being so kind and awesome. My husband and I are hoping to catch you again. While I'm a Trucks, too, I didin't have time to tell his Dad I'm also American Indian, so I was raised in the culture. I'm hoping to get back to see you all soon when you come back! Thanks for being so down to earth and awesome! What a great band!

Maybe it was the warmup band that set me in a poor frame of reference. Concert was generally disappointing. Too much Tedeschi, not enough Trucks. And wassup with putting Mike Mattison in the backup vocals category? That's just wrong! The double drumset seemed superfluous. It was like a corporate merger and they couldn't decide which middle manager to cut. I miss Todd Smallie. New bass player is over the top, though I enjoyed his Bensonesque guitar work as featured soloist.
Brilliant solo by Kofi Burbridge, especially on flute.

i have been listening to derek trucks-susan tedeschi since 2003. It came at a time
when my dad was dying..He had a great love of the Blues and my childhood was
filled with BB King, Muddy, Jonny Winter, Eric Clapton and so many others..then
a few years later my Mum fell ill and passed in 2007...again listening to the crossroads festival in 2004, 07 and 10 came to help ease the pain and sadness..
yet now living in auckland the set that graced our shores for that one blessed night
well...myself a simple 55 year old woman could do was to hold on to the front row

I would have loved to meet you through Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" competition. However, I was "too Rock and Roll" ( I am my father's child, after all)
But....
Nothing was not learned, something grew. (Everything that's small has to grow, everything stays the same, nothing changes, the song remains the same)

Derek Trucks Band Road Journal 2001-2009

Since the Atlanta 2009-12-03 show is the last I will see of the Derek Trucks Band (dTb) for at least a year- the band is taking a year hiatus- I started thinking about all the shows I have witnessed since I first saw the dTb in 2001.
